    Developing New Websites

The graphics department at Roll-A-Shade was tasked with creating new website for our exterior products specifically and I lead the team to create it.

    • We worked directly with marketing department as well as the CEO to create a logical and easy to navigate informational site.
    • The site was created through Muse, an Adobe Creative Suite program
    • After the order was established, we presented multiple designs for multiple pages to create a cohesive design.
    • Once this was done, we populated the site with the products, fabrics, pictures and any other relevant documents or items.

    Developing Department Systems

When I was promoted to Manager of the Graphics Department, I immediately established better organization and processes.

    • Working with IT to design more coherent file structures on the network
    • Increased communication and documentation from our project management department
    • Put steps in place that allowed for better control of time-lines for projects
    • Created better tracking systems for departmental supplies and sales materials

I also created a document that allowed for better quality control in the department.

    • Once printing was complete we would then send the document to the appropriate project manager, which accomplished two things:
    • The PM knows that the project was printed
    • The documentation for the project can also then be kept all together in our database.

    Training for Project Managers

To improve efficiencies project managers needed improved training for improved hand-off of the specifications to the Graphics Department. I created a presentation and lead the training.

    • I created the presentation in such a way so that it could be used as both a presentation and a reference at anytime.
    • I also created a shortened version that the project managers would be able to send to customers that have both their information and my own at the end.
    • The presentation explained the difference between vector and image files, what Pantone Colors are and what they are used for as well as what files we need for different kinds of printing that we do.

    Training for the Graphics Department

We were set to add a new Graphic Designer to the team but we had no proper training manual or documentation for any of the equipment we use. I needed to create such a document from scratch.

    • With a training manual they would be able to get started and then ask questions when they ran into problems.
    • The training manual gives long explanations with color coded pictures of the many steps that are needed for printing.
    • I attempted to write it in such a way that any level of staff would be able to follow the steps to step up and print a shade.
